Gatwick Airport Temporarily Evacuated Due to Fire Alarm

Gatwick Airport was temporarily evacuated on Thursday, May 9, following reports of a fire.

Footage recorded by Kevin Edger shows passengers exiting a restaurant area in the airport’s South Terminal, and standing outside.

A spokesperson for the airport cited in local media said: “London Gatwick’s South Terminal Departure Lounge was evacuated for a short time this morning due to a fire alarm activation. Our dedicated Airport Fire Service swiftly attended and confirmed there was no fire. Passengers are being allowed back into the Departure Lounge.” Credit: Kevin Edger via Storyful
