Gemma Atkinson appears to have been left emotional as she shared what happens when she returns home from work. Bury-born Gemma has recently returned to her main job on Hits Radio where she co-hosts the drivetime slot from 4pm alongside Mike Toolan and with producer Matt.

The radio and TV star 39, headed back to her radio gig nine months after she and her fiance Gorka Marquez, 33, welcomed their second child together, son Thiago, back in July, just over four years after the birth of their daughter Mia.

Speaking exclusively to the Manchester Evening News about her return to the airwaves last month, Gemma said when asked how she was feeling: "It's a bit of a double-edged sword to be honest," as she reflected on her maternity leave coming to an end.

"There's half of me that is really looking forward to having the routine again and being back with Toolan and Producer Matt and engaging with the listeners again because I obviously love the job. But then there's the other half of me that, because I know Thiago is our last baby, I'm never going to get that time at home again in my bubble that's the most exhausting but yet wonderful baby bubble.

"So it's mixed emotions really. I think any mum going back [to work] after maternity has both. Some days are like, 'Get me back in a studio with actual adults,' but then other days I'm like, 'Oh no, I just want him [Thiago] to stay asleep on me'."

But Gemma has since been getting back into the flow of being back on air while also juggling her latest time apart from Gorka as the dancer tours the country with his Strictly Come Dancing co-stars in the UK-wide professionals tour.

Taking to her Instagram Story on Wednesday evening (May 1) Gemma shared what it was like returning home to her beloved dogs, Norman and Ollie. The animal lover filmed an excited Ollie coming to give her a fuss while she shouted for Norman.

Alongside the clip, Gemma wrote: "Senior pet owners will relate... Norman doesn't hear the door now, or me shouting unless we're in the same room," alongside a face holding back tears emoji and a red love heart.

Then on Thursday morning (May 2), the mum-of-two shared another update as she was seen fussing Norman. "But he's still always 1st up with me in the mornings while everyone else sleeps," she said in the adorable post with a red love heart.

It comes as Gemma and Gorka are set to return to TV screens in another series of their very own reality series. The pair appeared in their own reality TV series ahead of the arrival of their second child and showed the pair opening up their lives and Greater Manchester home to the cameras as they documented their second pregnancy journey and the "absolute utter chaos of our day-to-day lives at home juggling work, dogs, toddlers and hormones."

Following the success of the show, on Thigo's arrival, it was revealed back in January, the pair would be letting the cameras back in to share more of their life unfiltered in the second series of Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind the Lens for UKTV’s free-to-air entertainment channel W and streaming service UKTV Play.

Produced by Two Rivers Media, the hit UKTV Original series will once again see the couple open their doors to their private life and offer viewers an intimate look into their world, as they embrace full-on family chaos since becoming a family of four. And earlier this week, they confirmed the air date of the upcoming second series.

In a trailer for the six-part series, which starts on Monday (May 6), Gemma could be seen in the early stages of being a mum-of-two as four-year-old Mia could be heard introducing her family - including pet pooches Ollie and Norman - one by one before they were seen cracking on with family and work life.
