Glastonbury 2017: Music fans arrive in their thousands for UK's biggest music festival

Glastonbury is usually an extremely wet affair but wellies might not be needed this year.

The legendary musical extravaganza is just as famous for its mud as the bands that play but this year’s bash comes in the middle of a heatwave.

Temperatures are soaring across Britain, with today expected to be the hottest June day in 40 years – just as music fans defend on the 900-acre Somerset site.

The mercury has already risen to 23C this morning and forecasters have predicted it could reach 30C later – making it the hottest day in the event’s history.

The festival, hosting a population of 200,000, is being headlined by Radiohead, Foo Fighters and Ed Sheeran.

Bands don’t actually start playing until Friday but that hasn’t stopped the eager ones dragging tents, clothes and alcohol to the site two days early.
