ITV This Morning viewers 'switch off' as they slam 'rude' Jimmy Carr

Jimmy Carr stirred the pot during his appearance on ITV's This Morning on Friday, May 3, leaving host Dermot O'Leary to play peacemaker. The comedian continuously interrupted cookbook author Clodagh McKenna as she showcased her recipes with a chicken theme.

The comedian was due for a chat with Dermot and Alison Hammond but carefully watched the Irish chef and author in the show's kitchen before he had to answer the presenters' questions. Clodagh proceeded professionally, demonstrating how to maximise a chicken carcass despite Carr's interjections. He quipped: "What? Have you not got a bin?" while the chef recommended viewers put the carcass in a saucepan.

Clodagh managed to keep smiling and continue with her segment, despite Carr's ongoing pestering, notably telling her to 'put it in the bin', insisting that 'the chicken is gone'. Not stopping there, Carr mocked Clodagh as she proudly introduced a homemade chicken broth. His joke was: "Wait until she finds out about stock cubes!" Disregarding his comments, Clodagh carried on, though frequently talked over by Carr, reports the Mirror.

The segment drew to a close with the trio — Clodagh, Dermot, and Jimmy — sampling a chicken and vegetable dish. But ever the joker, Carr made one last dig about a lack of chicken in the dish. Although Clodagh McKenna responded with a smile and polite laughter, Dermot was quick to offer a comforting arm around her. Off-screen, however, viewers were less forgiving as they took to social media to criticise Jimmy Carr's behaviour on the show.

One viewer expressed their disapproval by writing: "Urgh. Jimmy Carr next. Switching off as he is obnoxious and proved it by having no respect to Clodah's segment." Another shared similar sentiments, commenting: "Jimmy Carr what an absolute arse to Clodagh."

A third viewer added their voice to the criticism, stating: "I doubt Jimmy would appreciate it if Clodagh joined his segment and started loudly interrupting and undermining everything he said."

This sentiment was echoed by another who said: "Jimmy Carr being an arse during this cooking segment on #ThisMorning STFU Jimmy. You're not funny and just look well pathetic. It's not always about you."

One fan showed sympathy for Clodagh, suggesting: "If I was Clodagh I would butt in on Jimmy Carr's segment and throw broccoli at him the rude git!" And another viewer summed up their feelings by saying: "Clodagh sounds really pissed off at Jimmy Carr and who could blame her."

Following the incident, Clodagh posted on Instagram a selfie with Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, with the caption: "One chicken, 3 recipes, one @jimmycarr I'm officially ready for the weekend."

In the comments section of her post, more viewers offered support to Clodagh after the on-air moment, with further criticism directed at Jimmy Carr. One of her followers expressed sympathy, writing: "I'm sorry the 3 of them talked over the top of you so much, as a viewer it made it hard to hear so must have been frustrating for you! Great recipes though and can't wait to try!" Meanwhile, another was less forgiving towards Jimmy Carr, commenting: "Jimmy Carr was so rude to you C, you were fab thank you so much."
