A man who stabbed his wife to death has been found guilty of murder.

David Clark, 49, claims he plunged a cooking knife into his wife’s chest because she cheated on him and mocked the size of his penis.

Melanie, 44, was left to bleed to death on the kitchen floor.

The former military medic launched his frenzied attack as the couple rowed about Melanie having an affair with his best friend’s daughter just two days before.

South-African born Melanie had confessed to having sex with friend Katie Bastians in their marital bed while Clark slept in the room next door.

She had also repeatedly taunted him about having a “small dick” which Clark said made him feel “inadequate” and “sad”.

On the night of the murder, the couple had enjoyed a night celebrating New Year’s Eve at a friends house where they played a drinking game version of snakes and ladders.

But once they returned home, they began arguing about Melanie’s lesbian encounter.

Clark then text Katie’s dad Stephen Bastians in “spite and revenge” to expose the details of their tryst and then messaged his wife saying: “F**k you bitch.”

A court heard he then stabbed Melanie death in order to “teach her the ultimate lesson” and dialled 999 confessing: “I’ve killed my wife. She did my head in.”

Police rushed to the couple’s home and Melanie, who had four children from a previous relationship, was pronounced dead 12 minutes into the New Year.

Just minutes later her two sons Sheldon, 22, and Slade, 19, returned home from a party to find police swarming over their home.

Clark was arrested in blood-soaked pyjamas on his birthday at the three-bedroom home in Cloverdale, Bromsgrove.

He initially denied the murder when he went on trial earlier this month at Birmingham Crown Court charged with murdering his wife-of-ten years.

Following a three week trial, he was found guilty by a jury of four women and seven men after six-and-half-hours of deliberations.

Clark showed no emotion in the dock as the jury returned their majority verdict.

Justice Stephen Morris said: “David Clark, you have been convicted of murder by this jury.

“The mandatory sentence for murder is life imprisonment. On July 12 I will set the minimum term you have to serve.”

Clark, who grew up in South Africa and moved to the UK with his wife in 2011, having married in 2004.

The court heard how the couple had a turbulent relationship and both of them had engaged in extramartial affairs.

Following the murder, he tried to kill himself with gas before police arrived and even begged officers to kill him.

During his trial, Clark claimed he could not remember how his wife suffered the fatal knife wound.
