Murder suspect named after man stabbed to death

A man has been charged with murder after a man was stabbed to death.

Cheshire Police were called to Summertrees Road in Ellesmere Port at around 8.20pm on Wednesday, May 1, following reports a 34-year-old had been stabbed. Officers arrived at the scene and found Lloyd Velasquez had been stabbed several times.

Mr Velasquez was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital, where he later died.

Police have charged a 19-year-old man with his murder. Ben Ruddock, of Kendal Drive, Ellesmere Port, was arrested in the Halewood area of Merseyside at around 1.35am on Thursday, May 2.

Ruddock has been remanded in custody to appear at Crewe Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, May 4 2023.

A 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, both from Ellesmere Port, who were both arrested on suspicion of murder remain in police custody at this time.
