The One Show's Alex Jones apologised to Bobby Brazier during his appearance on the show after an awkward EastEnders blunder - which he called out. During the latest instalment of the BBC One show on Wednesday night (May 1), the actor was on the sofa to talk about his return to Albert Square as Freddie Slater.

It was recently confirmed that Freddie would be returning to Walford with the legend that is Big Mo in the coming weeks, months on from Freddie's exit as Bobby appeared on Strictly Come Dancing and more than a year since Big Mo, played by Laila Morse, appeared in the BBC One soap.

Introducing Bobby, host Alex, 47, said: "In a moment, we'll be joined by Bobby Brazier as his character, Freddie Mitchell, gets ready to return to Albert Square. But first, let's look at his story so far..."

However, after the video montage played, Bobby was quick to point out Alex's blunder, saying he's Freddie Slater not Freddie Mitchell - who he said "doesn't exist".

The 20-year-old said: "By the way, by the way, it's Freddie Slater not Freddie Mitchell! Freddie Mitchell doesn't exist, who is that?" with Alex quickly adding: "Well, now, that is an error, isn't it? A big apology Bobby!" to which Bobby quipped: "Come on now!"

After the awkward start, Bobby then teased his return to EastEnders, where he joked about learning his lines to which Jermaine Jenas quipped about not learning his lines with Alex, saying: "We do that, all the time!" with Bobby pointing out: "Yeah, I mean, Freddie Mitchell!" with Alex replying: "You know what I mean!"

Freddie has been away after he attacked Stacey Slater's stalker Theo Hawthorne and faced prison last year. Now after some time away Freddie is back in the coming weeks, after staying with Mo in her caravan.

Mo left Walford back in 2021 to go on a cruise with on/off love interest turned fiance, Fat Elvis, but it's yet to be confirmed what is leading to her permanent comeback to her former home. EastEnders teased a first-look clip of their return would premiere on the show's TikTok channel closer to the time.

Laila has already filmed her comeback scenes on the show, with the actress teasing what was head for her character. On returning to EastEnders, Laila said: "I'm delighted to be coming home to Walford to bring Mo back to life."

"EastEnders holds such a special place in my heart, and I can't wait to be reunited with my on screen family, who are like my family, as well as old and new faces." Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer added: "We are absolutely delighted to welcome back Laila Morse to the role of Mo Harris."

"Although her time away from the Square has been short-lived, the Slater family has endured a huge amount of drama since she last appeared on screen and Mo's return will be no different. We're delighted to welcome Laila back permanently as she is thrust into the heart of the drama alongside great-grandson Freddie [played by Bobby Brazier ]."
