The One Show’s Alex Jones made an apology as she appeared on the latest episode of Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable, which airs on the Dave Channel. The presenter sought forgiveness from Stuart, a contestant on a show she previously presented called La Bamba and she also revealed how she got caught up in a bit of a sticky situation after blagging her way onto the prize holiday contestants won on the show.

Beginning her story, Alex said: “It was my first presenting job, and I'd convinced my best friend to be a contestant because the prize was a holiday to Mexico. I said, ‘If you win and hook up with a bloke, then maybe I can also come as the host. We'll ditch him. We can have a holiday.’”

Alex revealed how she roped her friend Kat, whom she described as having a “brilliant personality”, into appearing on the show. What she wasn’t expecting though was Kat to win with fellow contestant Stuart – and so, the three of them went off to Mexico together.

Alex continued: “[The producers] say, ‘Al, you can go to Mexico as long as you film how they got on.’ So off we went to Mexico, me, Kat, and Stuart. Basically it was really hot, and there was a function on the camera, which was this sun that kept appearing. Basically, the camera's overheated. I thought, well, there's nothing I can do. Sorry, can't film anymore, so they had three seconds of dancing and that was it.”

The TV star recalled how during one evening, her and Kat went to a nightclub. “These men said to me and my friend, ‘Come on, girls, you go and dance on the podium.’ And we were like, ‘No, thank you. We're just from Wales.’

“They said, ‘If you dance on the podium, we'll buy you some drinks.’ We're like, ‘All right, then.’ Straight up. And then it got a bit creepy. So we thought, ‘This is not for us.’ So we pushed on a door, which was a fire escape, and the fire escape went into a shopping centre, which was attached to the nightclub, where we spent the night because the shopping centre was closed. We never saw Stuart again!” Want less ads? Download WalesOnline’s Premium app on Apple or Android

Years later in 2010, Alex would join The One Show, replacing Christine Lampard (nee Bleakley). She has been on the programme ever since. Alex was full of confessions on the show, which sees celebs compete to convince Mel and her assistant Lou that they are the most unforgivable person in the room by dredging up their most outrageous sins, lies, legal transgressions and morally bankrupt behaviour. Her other confession involved her being hypnotised and a breach the BBC Guidelines - click here to read more on that.
