Prince Harry is facing pressure to resign from the Invictus Games, but one expert reckons he'll shrug off the calls.

The Duke of Sussex, who established the games in 2014 to aid wounded and sick service members and veterans, has seen approximately 2,000 former military personnel abandon the event amid claims it has strayed from its initial purpose.

Criticism has also been levelled at Meghan Markle's involvement, sparking concerns that her presence could make the games appear "too royal". Despite this, PR guru Ryan McCormick thinks Harry will disregard the backlash.

Chatting exclusively with the Mirror, McCormick remarked: "Harry had no qualms about being honoured as a 'Legend of Aviation' in January so I don't believe he'll heed calls to step down from the Invictus Games."

He did, however, note that stepping aside might work in Harry's favour, as he went on: "If The Duke did, however, and said it was out of respect to veterans, it could be a sizeable boost of positive PR."

These insights follow veteran warnings that the Invictus Games have veered off course.

GB News presenter Mark Dolan has stated: "About 2,000 ex-military have left the games, as they say it's lost its original meaning. There are some former veterans who would like Harry to step down."

Set to travel back to the UK for the milestone occasion, Harry will participate in the 'Service of Thanksgiving' at St Paul's Cathedral, London on May 8.

A statement from the Invictus Games' social networking pages declared: "The Invictus Games Foundation will celebrate 10 years of changing lives and saving lives with a 'Service of Thanksgiving' at St Paul's Cathedral on May 8th. We will be joined by our Patron, Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, actor Damian Lewis and members of the worldwide Invictus Community to mark the occasion."

However, Meghan won't accompany her husband to this function. Nonetheless, the Duchess of Sussex will join Harry during his impending visit to Nigeria where they'll engage in discussion centring the Invictus Games and meet servicemen and their families.
