Rylan Clark had a three-word response as he was filmed watching Olly Alexander's first big Eurovision Song Contest performance on Tuesday night. The run-up to this year's Eurovision Song Contest began on Tuesday night (May 7) with the first semi-final broadcasted by the BBC.

There were 15 countries competing in the first semi-final - Cyprus, Serbia, Lithuania, Ireland, Ukraine, Poland, Croatia, Iceland, Slovenia, Finland, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Australia, Portugal and Luxembourg - with just 10 countries qualifying for the final which takes place in Malmo, Sweden, on Saturday (May 11).

The show was initiated by Eleni Foureira, a former Cyprus contestant, who set the stage alight with her sparkling attire and backup dancers clad in black, reports the Mirror.

UK entry Olly, 33, famed for his role in the band Years and Years, also took to the stage representing the with his song Dizzy, the first single he has written solo, with the only public run-through of the track featuring some impressive stage production. But Olly's moment under the spotlight received a varied response from viewers who quickly voiced their opinions online.

Taking to Instagram to document the first semi-final, the BBC Eurovision's official Instagram shared a video of Rylan, 35, and Scott Mills, who are fronting coverage of the competition for BBC Radio 2, watching Olly's performance.

In the clip, it sees the duo dancing along as an excited Rylan exclaims: "It's so good!" before the duo stop dancing and go quiet, appearing to pay close inspection to the performance.

It comes as Olly's performance on Tuesday night gave fans their first taste of the track, but reactions were incredibly mixed. One who wasn't impressed tweeted: "#EURO2024 sorry but I don't think much of #OllyAlexander Dizzy UK entry. Set and production poor."

However, Olly's supportive fans came out in their dozens to back the singer after the harsh criticism. One fan gushed on X: "I just love Olly Alexander... GREAT staging... #ESC2024," while another praised: "Olly's performance was SO professional. It was like watching a music video. Best staging of the year #unitedkingdom."
