Seven fire crews race to tackle Ayr warehouse inferno

Fire crews have been battling a blaze in a derelict Ayr warehouse today.

Emergency services were called to York Street just after 7.10am today after reports of a fire.

In total, seven appliances were sent to tackle the fire by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service who remain on scene.

There have been no reports of any injuries.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 7.13am on Tuesday, July 2 to reports of a fire at a derelict warehouse on York Street, Ayr.

“Operations Control mobilised six appliances and a specialist height appliance to the scene.

“No injuries have been reported.

“Two appliances remain in attendance and firefighters are currently working to make the area safe.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We received a call at 07:31 to attend an incident on York Street, Ayr.

"Two ambulances, a paramedic response unit and three special operations response teams (SORT) were dispatched to the scene and no patients were transported to hospital.”
