A steering group has been set up to implement the Bay Place Plan and make improvements to Sandown, Lake and Shanklin.

They held their inaugural meeting recently, to lay out some of the ideas and themes in the plan, which was published at the beginning of the year.

The steering group is made up mainly of members of the public, with two councillors from each of the town and parish councils of the Bay.

They are joined by the Bay Regeneration Officer and Cabinet member responsible for regeneration from the Isle of Wight Council.

The eight areas to be concentrated on are arts and culture, businesses, youth, events and activations, hotels and holiday accommodation, natural environment, sport, and community organisations.

Contact details for all members will be published on the three local council websites along with records of their meetings.

To get involved in any of the project groups, email bayareaplaceplan@iow.gov.uk and your details will be passed on to the project group leaders.

There will be at least one annual public meeting to share progress and set out the plan for the following year.
