What did you miss?

The Traitors’ Ross has said he had to squash his emotions watching his mum Diane getting buried on the show in case it revealed their secret.

The pair both took part in the latest series of the BBC programme, but kept the fact they are mother and son under wraps. Diane took the secret to the grave after she was killed off in a dramatic twist that saw her going through a funeral after drinking from a poisoned chalice.

Ross, who was the latest person to be banished, has now told how “weird” it was to see his mum climbing into a coffin to film her ‘death’ scene.

What, how and why?

Speaking on ITV's This Morning, he said: “Of course it was. Nobody wants to see their 60-plus mother get in a coffin before her time.”

Joking that host Claudia Winkleman “took no prisoners at all”, he continued: “It was weird but also you could very much see that there is lights and it’s a game. My kind of feeling was, OK if I am too emotional the other contestants are going to think that’s weird because me and Diane aren’t very close.”

Ross had been a Faithful but was then recruited as a Traitor and was banished very quickly afterwards. He told This Morning hosts Dermot O’Leary and Sian Welby that “there just wasn’t enough time to implement a game plan”.

“I had all these thoughts in my head of what I was going to do... it was just hard,” he said. “It’s hard to be in that situation and get your game plan across in a short space of time.”

The reality star used his final words to tell the other contestants what he had been hiding. Addressing the group after a stressful round table that saw him correctly identified as a Traitor, he shared: “I will just leave you with one little Easter egg before I go. I was actually the son of someone in this game... and that person was Diane.”

There was also a hilarious moment when presenter O’Leary shared how there had been real excitement in the air when Diane visited This Morning last week. The Traitors star has become hugely popular since her stint in Ardross Castle and O’Leary said there was a real “frisson” when she was on the programme.

“Everyone wanted a piece of the big D,” he said. Laughing about O’Leary’s turn of phrase, Ross joked: “Ooh that doesn’t sound right!”
