Turning Tides Project proposes sustainable transformation for community land

The Turning Tides Project (TTTP) has submitted an application to repurpose land currently used for vegetable and produce cultivation for their café at Crediton Station.

The proposal, centred on the site off Four Mills Lane, includes the construction of small, sheltered structures and an outdoor performing space. Additionally, a limited number of solar panels are proposed. The structures, designed with simplicity and sustainability in mind, will primarily be handmade by TTTP members using reclaimed and upcycled materials.

In 2020, TTTP took over the site and revitalised it for growing vegetables and produce for their café. The project emphasises eco-conscious practices, such as reusing materials and upcycling, in harmony with nature. TTTP's mission is to make music, the arts, and life more accessible for individuals labelled with learning disabilities or autism.

TTTP operates a variety of initiatives, including the Crediton Station Tea Rooms, which provide supported employment opportunities. They also facilitate numerous community projects, sessions, and events. Their 4 Mills project involves reclaiming old allotments for growing vegetables, flowers, and outdoor crafting, benefiting the community they serve.

The Turning Tides Project's efforts aim to create opportunities for individuals with learning disabilities and autism to contribute actively to their community and be recognised for their contributions.
