Two people taken to hospital after A444 crash near M6 junction

Two people have been taken to hospital after a three-vehicle crash caused chaos at a major junction this morning. The crash happened at the junction of the A444 at Exhall and Junction 3 of the M6.

Police said that two people had been taken to hospital although their injuries are not thought to be serious. The road has now reopened but pictures from the M6 earlier this morning show traffic queuing to leave at the junction.

Nuneaton Fire Station also shared dramatic images of the crash. Firefighters had to cut casualties from their cars after people became trapped.

Damage was also sustained to lighting, with live wires exposed.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police thanked people for their patience while the road was closed. He added: “Thank you for your patience while we’ve dealt with a collision on the A444 at the junction with the M6. The road has now been cleared and reopened. Two people were taken to hospital, injuries not thought to be serious.”

A spokesman for Nuneaton Fire Station added: “Green Watch Firefighters have used trauma care techniques and extrication equipment [at a] multiple RTC this morning.

“One casualty has been taken to Walsgrave hospital with their injuries, two casualties treated at the scene by West Midlands Ambulance Service, street furniture in the form of lighting was stuck by the vehicle leaving live wires exposed, national grid have been made aware and will make an attendance.

“Police are still in attendance and there will be delays around the local area.”
