Vernon Kay's fans 'can't believe' his age as wife Tess issues statement on milestone birthday

Vernon Kay fans were left stunned as the BBC Radio 2 host celebrated a landmark birthday, with many expressing disbelief over his 'real age'. The popular presenter, who took over the mid-morning slot on BBC Radio 2 last year, marked his 50th birthday on Sunday (April 28).

His wife Tess Daly, 55, paid a heartfelt tribute to Vernon on Instagram, posting an endearing video montage featuring a collection of previously unseen photos showcasing the couple's early years together. The Strictly Come Dancing presenter affectionately captioned her post: "50 TODAY @vernonkay. So happy to have spent half of those birthdays with you."

Followers quickly took to the comments section, amazed by Vernon's youthful appearance. One fan exclaimed: "How do you two never age? Happy birthday!"

Prior to his big day, it was reported that Vernon had some apprehensions about reaching the half-century milestone. A source confided to OK! magazine: "Vernon had mixed feelings about turning 50, to him it just feels so old and was in a bit of panic before it all happened."

"He has always liked to see himself as quite young and trendy - it only seemed like a few years ago he was being described as fresh young talent. But he also feels so grateful to have got to 50 and to be married to Tess and have two beautiful and healthy daughters."

Vernon and Tess first crossed paths back in 2001 during his time as a presenter on T4. The couple tied the knot in 2003 at St Mary's Church, Horwich and now reside in a grand mansion in Buckinghamshire, boasting a gym and extensive garden.

They have two girls, Phoebe and Amber.
