Glasgow restaurant Doppio Malto closes doors for the last time leaving fans shocked

A top bar and restaurant in the city centre has shocked fans by announcing to fans that it is now closed.

Staff at Doppio Malto, which first opened in Glasgow back in 2021, took to social media to say it had "closed its doors" for good at its original Scottish venue on George Square.

Described as Italy’s leading brewhouse concept, the bar restaurant which was located in the beautiful former home of Jamie's Italian wowed fans with its premium beer selection and hearty food offering.

Speaking about the closure, the team said: "Doppio Malto has closed its doors in Glasgow. Thank you to everyone that has been a part of our journey and who found Un Posto Felice with us over the last 3 years."

People who enjoyed drinking and dining there over the three years it operated in the city were shocked and saddened by the news.

One posted: "Gutted - I don't eat out that much but I've eaten with you or been in for drinks a few times and it was always excellent. I've been recommending you on so many pages. Will miss those beer cocktails."

While another added: "The beer cocktails were fantastic. Good luck to all of the staff, hope they get sorted quickly."

No reasons or further info has been provided for the closure, Doppio Malto has been contacted for comment.
