Major General inspects the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment

The Major General, wearing a white plumed hat, rode in between rows of mounted troops to conduct the annual inspection of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment at Hyde Park on Thursday morning. The annual inspection consists of more than 150 horses and just under 200 participants to show the regiment’s readiness for summer pageantry events including Trooping the Colour and state visits. The Major General, riding Jumping Jack, inspected the regiment before a march. An official at the event has said they could provide no further update on the condition of the horses or riders involved in yesterday’s incident. The regiment, dressed in black, red and gold uniforms with golden helmets, then trotted around the cordoned-off square of grass as the brass band played. A small crowd gathered to watch the parade and take photographs, despite the chilly weather.
