Morrissey faces criticism for controversial comments on racism, Sadiq Khan, and acid attackers

Morrissey faces a backlash as a result of his latest interview, after making false claims about acid attackers, criticising the way Mayor of London Sadiq Khan speaks, and rendering racism ‘meaningless’.

While speaking in an interview published on his website, the former Smiths singer was outspoken when it came to sharing his views on a variety of issues.

On racism, he branded the construct as ‘meaningless’ and reminded everyone that, apparently, Adolf Hitler was leftwing: ‘As far as racism goes, the modern Loony Left seem to forget that Hitler was Left wing,’ proclaimed the 58-year-old proclaimed. ‘But of course, we are all called racist now, and the word is actually meaningless.’

He insisted that if someone disagrees with your opinion then you’re branded a racist: ‘It’s just a way of changing the subject,’ he continued. ‘When someone calls you racist, what they are saying is “Hmm, you actually have a point, and I don’t know how to answer it, so perhaps if I distract you by calling you a bigot we’ll both forget how enlightened your comment was”.’

When talking about Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, the Morrissey pinpointed the way he doesn’t pronounce words properly and described his view on the state of the capital: ‘London is debased.’

Before appearing to mock the way Khan speaks: ‘The Mayor of London tells us about ”Neighborhood policin’ ” – what is “policin’ “? He tells us London is an ”amazin’ ” city. What is “amazin’ “? This is the Mayor of London! And he cannot talk properly! I saw an interview where he was discussing mental health, and he repeatedly said “men’el” … he could not say the words ‘mental health’. The Mayor of London! Civilisation is over!’

After making it clear he wasn’t a fan of the Mayor, the singer then made an incorrect assumption on on the recent increase in acid attacks: ‘London is second only to Bangladesh for acid attacks,’ he began.

‘All of the attacks are non-white, and so they cannot be truthfully addressed by the British government or the Met Police or the BBC because of political correctness.

‘What this means is that the perpetrator is considered to be as much of a victim as the actual victim. We live in the Age of Atrocity.’

Only, what he’s saying isn’t true. For example, Ferne McCann’s ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins (a white man) was recently jailed for 20 years after being found guilty of the crime.

He also described halal as ‘evil’ and likened it to terrorism, saying: ‘Halal slaughter requires certification that can only be given by supporters of Isis.’

Naturally, people didn’t respond well to his thoughts, as Twitter was flooded with opinions on the singer, as he became the UK’s top trend.

Morrissey was forced to defend his comments last years from an interview with Der Spiegel in Germany, where quotes emerged from an audio recording of him confirming he’d kill Donald Trump and placed blame on one of Kevin Spacey’s sexual assault victims.

The star denied it, claiming his words were taken out of context, but the outlet then released the entire, unedited interview that included the controversial quotes.
