A schoolgirl has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car.

Emergency services were called to Parthenon Drive in Norris Green at around 3.45pm today, June 28.

The schoolgirl, 11, was taken to hospital following the accident. We do not know the extent of her injuries.

As a result of the incident, bus services in the area were diverted via Townsend Avenue and the East Lancashire Road. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that emergency services have been in Norris Green following an RTC this afternoon, Friday 28 June.

"At around 3.45pm, officers were called to Parthenon Drive to reports of a collision involving a Ford Focus and an 11-year-old girl pedestrian.

"The pedestrian was taken to hospital for assessment of injuries. The driver stayed at the scene to assist with enquiries.

"Anyone with information can contact @MerPolCC with reference 606 of 28 June."
