University of Warwick suspends 11 male students over 'rape jokes' made in group messenger chat
Students at a top university have been suspended after screenshots of a group messenger chat revealed jokes about rape and racial slurs.
The University of Warwick has suspended 11 male students pending a disciplinary investigation after the remarks came to light.
The messages came to light after three formal complaints were made to the university, with dozens of screenshots of the alleged remarks provided as evidence.
The screenshots revealed that one chat member wrote: “Rape her friends too,” with another replying: “Sometimes it’s fun to just go wild and rape 100 girls.”
The conversation continued with: “Rape the whole flat to teach them all (a) lesson.” while another message read: “What do we do with girls? RAAAAAAAAAPE.”
One user wrote: “Rape her in the street while everybody watches,” with another responding it “wouldn’t even be unfair”.
On top of the jokes about rape, racial slurs within the conversation included one person asking: “Even the p**is?” while another comment said: “love Hitler, hate n****s and jews and Corbyn.”
