M25 to close for 12 hours this weekend as major roadworks near A3 continue

Drivers have been warned to expect delays as the M25 is set to be closed for 12 hours this weekend, with an overnight closure ending later than normal. The motorway will be closed clockwise as improvement works continue around the Wisley interchange at junction 10.

The closure will begin at 9pm on Saturday, June 8 and will see the westbound stretch closed between junction 9 for Leatherhead and junction 10 for Wisley and the A3. The motorway is due to reopen at 9am on Sunday, June 9. Cobham Services will also be closed during this time.

Drivers travelling eastbound will be diverted off the motorway at junction 10, as the road between the exit and entry slip roads will also be closed overnight. Highways England workers will be carrying out more work on the new bridges over the M25.

Drivers should allow more time for their journeys and expect delays. Overnight closures usually see work completed and the road reopened by 6am the following morning but drivers should note this closure is set to finish at the later time of 9am, which could cause disruption to Sunday morning journeys.

M25 closure diversion route

A signed diversion will be in place taking drivers wanted to travel westbound beyond junction 9, off the motorway at junction 8 for Reigate and onto the A217 exit towards London and Sutton, they should then turn left onto the A240. At the Esso roundabout turn right onto the A24 towards the A3 Tolworth junction. Drivers should then join then A3 southbound before rejoining the M25 at junction 10. Drivers wanting to join the clockwise carriageway at junction 9 should travel anti-clockwise to junction 8 before following the above diversion.

Lorries over 14' 6" travelling westbound should leave the motorway at junction 9 and follow the A243 towards London and Kingston, before joining the A309 at the Hook junction. Drivers will then be diverted onto the A307 until it meets the A245, turn right here and follow the A245 to Painshill roundabout before joining the A3 southbound and then rejoin the M25 at junction 10.
